Orange Tops Hamden in Game 1 of Senior Legion Doubleheader

Opening night of Senior Legion play in Zone 2 took me to the Old Tavern Road Complex in Orange. Hamden was taking on Orange in a twinbill.

I took in Game 1 and saw Orange beat Hamden 6-4. Scoreless through 3, Orange broke through with a run in the 4th on a Sac Fly from Steve Cifarelli. Orange added 3 runs in the 5th aided by 2 Hamden errors for a 4-0 lead after 5.

But Hamden roared back with 4 runs in the 6th. The big hit - a 2 run single from Jack Wagner.

But Orange answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Justin Zamkov drove in the game winning rbi with a double and Casey Sexton added an insurance run with an rbi single, for the 6-4 final.

Owen Leszczak was the winning pitcher in relief for Orange. Justin Zamkov had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had the game winning rbi for Orange.

For Hamden, Jake Jovia had 2 hits and scored a run, Malcolm Benton had an rbi and Jack Wagner 2 rbis for Post 88.

Hamden came back to win Game 2 of the Doubleheader 3-0. Sean McGarry was the winning pitcher. He gave up 3 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Jack Wagner had 2 hits, including a triple.

Madison blanked Branford 4-0. Chris Wanat was the winning pitcher. Jack Pireaux had a double and scored 2 runs for Madison.

Wallingford defeated North Haven 3-1.

In Junior Legion Play, Wallingford defeated Hamden 6-2.

Wednesday, a trip to Branford could be in order - Madison at Branford

I expect a battle - Get PUMPED UP

and give me an - OH BABY!
