Madison Clinches Zone 2 Senior Legion Regular Season Championship

A family trip to Madison - Branford taking on Madison at the Town Campus Field.

It seems my little guy Willy likes this park making friends with chipmunks and mice along his travels.

Madison started fast scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back, cruising to a 10-1 win.

The win clinched the Zone 2 Senior Legion Regular Season Championship. Madison will play in the Regional Qualifier Tournament this weekend. They will joined by Wallingford, the 2nd place team, in the tournament as well.

For Madison, Matt Carone was the winning pitcher, a complete game performance, giving up 1 run and 5 hits. Jack Pireaux had 2 doubles, a single, 2 rbis and 2 walks, Eli Davies had a double and 2 rbis, Ken Nuzzi had 2 rbis and Will Bazenas had an rbi for Madison.

Dan Farricelli had the lone Branford rbi.

In other games:

Hamden 8 Orange 5 Josh Greenberg was the winning pitcher in relief, Jack Wagner went 3 for 4 with a double, Kenny Forsythe and Angel Rivera had 2 hits each for Hamden

Wallingford 7 North Haven 1 Justin Hackett was the winning pitcher. Chris Barkasay was 2 for 4, Justin Lucibello was 2 for 3 with a double and triple and Zach Blest was 2 for 3 for Wallingford

Standings: Madison 16-3, Wallingford 15-5, Hamden 12-8, Orange 9-10, West Haven 8-9, Branford 5-14, North Haven 2-18

A famiy trip most likely on Tuesday - Orange plays a big game at Hamden - playoff position for Orange on the line -- they're in - but where?
