Girls Softball - Hamden Beats Stratford With Big Inning

A solo trip to Hamden Friday to check out Stratford at Hamden in Girls Softball.

The Red Devils scored a run in the 1st on a solo Home Run by Ellie Lubas.

The Green Dragons got the run back and it was tied at 1 after 1.

It stayed 1-1 until the bottom of the 3rd when the Hamden bats came alive.

The Green Dragons sent 16 batters to the plate and erupted for 12 runs to take a commanding 13-1 lead. They added a run in the 4th to make it 14-1. Stratford scored 2 runs in the 5th to make it 14-3, but Hamden scored a run in the bottom of the 5th to make it 15-3 and end the game by the 12 run Mercy Rule.

Olivia McManus was the winning pitcher and had 5 strikeouts.

For Hamden - Olivia McManus had 3 hits and 3 rbis, Gianna Civitello had 2 hits and an rbi, Helen Bielen hit a 3 run Home Run, Kendall Terry had 2 hits and an rbi, Jamie Palumbo had 3 hits and 2 rbis, and Kalianys Rivera had 2 hits and 2 rbis

For Stratford - Ellie Lubas hit 2 Home Runs and Megan Wendland had 3 hits

Hamden finishes the season 9-11. The will play in the CIAC State Tournament.
