Greenwich Eliminates Wallingford in Senior Legion Regional Qualifier Tourn.

A solo trip to Wallingford(Wally World) Thursday night - Greenwich - Wallingford - Senior Legion Regional Qualifier Tournament - an elimination game - and yes despite the rain, the game was played.

The rain came down for most of the game, but stopped in the late innings, and by that time Greenwich was on their way to a 5-1 victory over Wallingford.

Justin Zych was the winning pitcher, going the first 6 innings. Tyler Cusimano pitched the 7th.

For Greenwich, Christian Mingione had 2 hits, scored a run, and had an rbi. Tyler Cusimano had a double and scored 2 runs, Riley Redahan had 2 hits and scored a run and Jacob Mondschein had 2 hits and 2 rbis.

For Wallingford, Chris Barkasay had 2 hits, Zach Blest had a double and scored a run and Aidan Weir had 2 hits and drove in the lone Wallingford run.

With the loss, Wallingford was eliminated from the tournament. They will compete in the State Tournament next week.

The Regional Qualifier Tournament is scheduled to end Saturday.

The State Tournament begins on Tuesday, August 3rd.

Five teams from Zone 2 will play in the State Tournament: Madison, Wallingford, Hamden, Orange, West Haven
