Hand, St. Joseph, Killingly Capture State Football Championships

Hand of Madison, St. Joseph of Trumbull and Killingly all won State Football Championships on Monday.

My featured Broadcast - the Class S Title Game between St. Joseph and Ansonia was an instant Classic.

A game that saw St. Joseph take a 7-0 lead, then Ansonia score 28 unanswered points for a 28-7 lead and then St. Joseph score 28 unanswered points for a 35-28 lead!.

Ansonia then scored to take a 36-35 lead but the Cadets came back to score and take a 42-36 lead and won the game by that score. It was truly an incredible game.

St. Joseph Quarterback David Summers threw 5 touchdown passes. The Cadets also got great performances from Ace Luzietti, Jesse Bike, Jared Mallozzi, Jaden Shirden and William Diamantis.

Markell Dobbs, Ansonia's outstanding running back, rushed for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Also having a great game for the Chargers were Justin Lopez, Cody Teodosio, Darwin Amaya and Brent Washington.

Check out the GREAT Video from this game, provided by WELI's Henry Bien-Aime, on the 960WELI Facebook Pace or go to 960WELI.com and under On Air, click on High School Sports.

Hand of Madison won the Class L Title, beating Masuk 35-21 and Killingly finished off an undefeated season knocking off Joel Barlow 41-14 to win the Class M Championship.
