Woods-Manning Win Charity Golf Match; UCONN Must Cut Athletic Budget

Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning defeated Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady by 1 stroke in what was called "The Match": Champions for Charity. The match raised $20 million dollars for the COVID - 19 relief efforts.

New York Governor Mario Cuomo said New York professional sports leagues will be able to begin training camps. The Brooklyn Nets have said their camp will open Tuesday, May 26th.

MLB and MLBPA say they are willing to compromise on financial issues. The league will present a proposal to the players union on Tuesday.

The University of Connecticut will have to cut $10 million dollars from their athletic budget. The question is - where will the cuts come from? Will they cut some sports, athletic scholarships or a combination of both.

UCONN will hold a budget workshop on June 12th when an athletic department proposal is expected to be submitted. The Board of Trustees will hold a meeting on June 24th at which time the proposal is expected to be voted upon.
